NEW ALBANY, Ohio, Oct. 25, 2022 (Newswire.com) –
Miriam Kroeker, Pathways Branch Manager, and Max Bennett, Pathways Business Development Specialist, presented New Albany Pantry Manager Jennifer Wilcoxon with a check for $1,000 to help purchase food for families in the need.

There has been an 82% increase in the number of New Albany residents requesting food assistance in recent years. “It really puts things into perspective when you see how many people are in need in our community,” Kroeker said. “We hope to continue to partner with the New Albany Food Pantry to help out as much as we can.”

The New Albany Food Pantry relies heavily on food and monetary donations from the community to continue providing food aid. In recent years, the demand for food has increased dramatically, despite rising food costs and declining donations. “We buy a lot of our food from the Mid-Ohio Food Collective,” Wilcoxon explained. “Every donated dollar can provide up to $5.22 in groceries.”

The New Albany Food Pantry seeks to eliminate food insecurity in the local school district of New Albany-Plain by connecting neighbors in need with food and other essential resources. They provided more than 300,000 meals last year, most of which were for children who needed summer meals and food boxes when school is not in session.
