Desert Financial Credit Union Welcomes Adopt-A-Teacher Submissions

Teachers often dip into their pockets to fund school supplies. Desert Financial, that of Arizona most trusted educator-founded credit union encourages teachers to apply for the annual fall 2021 Adopt-A-Teacher program starting at June 1st. Five lucky winners will be randomly selected to receive items on their wishlists totaling $ 5,000 each.

Between June 1st and June 15e, educators statewide are encouraged to apply and share their wishlists here:

The winners will be selected and notified by June 18.

“Teachers spend on average $ 560 of their own hard-earned money to supply classrooms, ”said Jeff Meshey, President and CEO of Desert Financial Credit Union. “This annual program helps some of them make significant investments that have a real impact on their students,” he added. “Plus, it sends the message that they deserve our support.”

In past seasons, Adopt-A-Teacher recipients have requested a range of items to store classrooms or assist students, including laptops, webcams, and sensory seating tools.

“Being chosen for Adopt-A-Teacher 2021 has been the greatest gift for me, my students and their families, and our school! Not having to personally pay for supplies has been a dream come true, especially in this past year like no other as we have faced so many new and different challenges, ”said Wendy wendleton, a teacher at Sweetwater Elementary School in the Washington School District.

“So far we have been able to purchase many wonderful adaptive educational supplies, technology, storage solutions and more! We are very grateful for the support of Desert Financial and for receiving this very generous honor! “

Each teacher is “adopted” between July and December and receives special invitations and benefits on behalf of Desert Financial.

Desert Financial was founded by 15 visionary educators in 1939. Together they started a Teachers’ Fair Credit Union that has grown into one of the valley’s most recognizable brands. With a new statewide charter, today anyone who works, worships, or lives in Arizona may be eligible to join the credit union.
